Middle Eastern History Basic Analysis
Middle Eastern History goes back 5,000 years to the time of Gilgamesh and the Mesopotamian Empire. However, I am just going to go back to a brief summary of the Crusades and then talk about ~WWI- WW2
The Middle East has been a hot/flash point for 5,000 years. The Middle East was the target of the Crusades during the second millennium AD. Europe had heavy amounts of hate towards Jews during the first two world wars, which caused the creation of Israel in the Middle of the Middle Eastern apex. The Middle East is a hot spot of violence and has been a key target of the Crusades and the First and Second World Wars.
The Crusades were a key point in the history of the Middle East and gave context to the modern-day Middle Eastern Tension/, Israel versus the Middle East. Middle Eastern History goes back 5,000 years. However, I will only be briefly analyzing the Crusades and then talk about the period after WWI. The Crusades happened in the 11th century AD. The crusades were when the Christian knights led a campaign against the Ottoman Empire to retake Jerusalem. This happened between the 11th and 14th centuries. The Crusades at one point were able to make it to Aleppo, create a Crusader kingdom, sack Constantinople, and retake Jerusalem. Jerusalem was the crown jewel as the center of Christianity/ birthplace. The Middle East was permanently shaped by the Crusaders, who reshaped the Middle East and led to a millennium of conflicts.
The Middle East during the first two world wars saw increasing amounts of hate toward’s Jew’s, which was incredibly impactful and reshaped the Middle East. The Middle East was impacted during WWI because of rising Antisemitism in Europe; many Jews immigrated to Palestine during this time. Palestine was a part of the Ottoman Empire at the time and had a mixture of Muslim’s, Christian’s, and Jews. The Ottoman Empire lost World War I, and afterward it became part of the British Empire's colonial mandate. The British Empire’s Colonial Mandate ended after WW2 when Israel became a separate, recognized state due to the Holocaust and the extreme amount of discrimination and antisemitism in Europe during WW2.
The Middle East has been the center of violence for the last 5,000 years. It has seen increased violence over the last 70 years due to the creation of Israel. Israel was created because of the Holocaust, which means that Jews are more wary and quicker to war due to the massacre of 8-14 million people and the rest of the Jewish refugees. Israel has fought many wars, and since the very beginning of Israel, it has been a prime/ hotspot of unsolvable wars and violence.
