Julius Ceasar- Roman Empire

Julius Ceasar used the money he gained from his conquests in Gaul to expand his political fortunes in Rome.

The Roman Empire’s mythological story was based on the Runaway Romulus and Reames. Julius Ceasar was born on July 12th 100BCE. Julius Ceasar was a Roman Statesman and general leading the Roman Republic to Greatness before becoming dictator. Julius Ceasar rose through the ranks of the Military and government before becoming dictator.

Julius Ceasar had the month of July named after him- previously it was named quintiles. The Patricians of the original aristocracy went to war against the plebians and the Ceasar’s were the only Patrician’s to support the Plebian’s they were also the last Patrician family from the original Patrician families for their bloodline to stay alive.

Roman leaders moved up the ranks of Roman politics and went up to the ranks of censorship. It required the family to lots of power wealth and connections, talent and ambitious wasn’t usually enough.

Julius Ceasar was elected to the following positions in the following years.

74BCE military tribune

68BCE elected questor

Aedile’ was elected in 65 BCE

Pontifex maximus in 63BCE

Praetor 62BCE

Governor of Spain 61BCE

Consulship 59 BCE

The first triumvirate was between Crassus- a very rich man, Pompey another highly rated general and Julius Ceasar the general. Ceasar during this triumvirate conquered more of France and Germany then he originally controlled even conquering some of Britain. He conquered Gaul between 58-50BCE and the Civil war was in 49-45BCE and the dictator happened in 46-44BCE.
