The Vikings were a culture of raiders, had internal debates and were defeated by the English. The Vikings had a special Norwegian Mercenary Group, that traveled throughout the world. The Viking Age was between 850-1050BC. The European resistance was included in internal disputes. The Vikings were held back by the Carolingian Empire – however they were able to conquer the British Isles.
The Vikings encompassed Northern Europe and continued throughout the Norwegian Mercenary Group. The Vikings were a group of raiders, farmers and soldiers, who occupied the modern-day countries of Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Some Vikings were part of a special Norwegian Mercenary group that traveled on canoes through Europe to Byzantium/ Constantinople. They fought on the side of the Eastern Roman Empire, defending the Christian’s against the Ottoman Empire. The Viking Age lasted for over three hundred years.
Vikings were peaceful traders; farmers and they were in decline by the 1050. The Viking Age was mainly between 850-1050AD. By around 1100 AD, the Vikings were in decline due to internal disputes and broader European resistance. Many Vikings were peaceful traders, or farmers, however they were mostly known for their brutal raids. Vikings faced heavy casualties, some of the heaviest, for a population of all time. Vikings colonized as far as the United States of America. The Vikings were stopped by the Carolingian Empire.
The Vikings lasted through 1066. The Vikings did not raid to settle in the Carolingian Empire; however, they were able to settle in the British Isles. Viking culture ended in 1066 AD due to the Expansion, improvement and the dominance- economically, militarily and culturally of the English. The Scandinavian kingdoms were Christian, in the Viking Age. The Vikings were Christian, however, were included in Pagan Culture. The Vikings were Pagan, Protestant and Catholics.
The Vikings were an important part of Northern European History and are very important culturally- then- and throughout time. The Vikings were stopped by the English- by the 1066 – when the English were very strong, economically, militarily and culturally. The Vikings were a mixture of Religion’s- Paganism, Catholicism and Protestantism. The Pagan Culture included Vikings gods like Sea, Sun and Rain.
