The Silk Road

Updated: Jun 10, 2025

The Silk Road was named after the namesake good- Silk- it was founded when Muhammad conquered Saudi Arabia and then led Saudi Arabia he was then recruited during a time of increasing amounts of warfare. They gained religious and military followers who led them to riches, religious salvation and glory. He conquered his enemies one at a time. Muhammad and the Muslims believed that the shared goals of Christian’s and Jews were due to both religions containing one God. Muhammad was a genius strategically, militarily, economically, governmentally, legally and religiously leading him to conquer most of the Middle East. His success attracted many new supporters and conquered many cities and towns, who were invested into him, and many of the villages were swallowed up. China sold porcelain and stoneware to Europeans, the Middle East and Eastern Africa. After the time of Muhammad, the steppes were very active in attacking and protecting the silk road trade from China to Europe and the Mongols controlled the Silk Road and created tolls for merchants. China sold goods -like silk - to the Europeans, middle easterners and Africa. It started with Persia in Ancient Greek and Roman times which created trades with Chinese civilization. They built up their empire which made them very wealthy. The Persians grew with an increasing number of followers who built themselves upward. The Europeans prized silk as a precious resource that was made for kings, queens emperors and nobility and was a prized clothing that was worn formally and ceremoniously. China kept its silk making secret for a very long time building it up and expanded it. It was loved and many in China loved selling silk and Europeans sent lots of gold and silver over to China for it making China the worlds superpower at one point. China also invented goods like paper and gunpowder - sending these inventions to the Europeans. The Europeans sent an explorer who went over and explored China coming back with his book that was made famous in Europe and is still published today.
