The Fall of the Roman Republic

I am listening to an audio book on the fall of the Roman Empire. I wanted to learn more about the Roman Empire, which is why I got this book. I have 16 physical books on the Roman Empire and three audiobooks.

The Ancient Roman Republic collapsed with Roman dictators trying and successfully taking over the Roman Republic from the Senators. The first was Sulla, the second was the First Triumvirate and the third was the Second Triumvirate. The first- Sulla- Was a military general- a man of the people- he was assassinated. The First Triumvirate was Julius Ceasar, Pompey and Crassus. The Second Triumvirate was Augustus Ceasar, Lepidus and Marc Antony.

The Ancient Roman Republic was founded in 509 BCE after overthrowing the Etruscan Kings that previously ruled Rome. It was then turned into an Elective Republic. The Roman Republic was ruled by the Senate and other elective offices. The elected offices include magistrates, tribunes, consuls, prater’s, censors, and Plebes. The Republic was led by two consuls, who were also generals.

During the time of the Roman Republic there was a major shift between old and new nobles- the new type of nobles- that Julius Ceasar supported and the old type of noble like Cato. The new nobles looked down on the old nobles. Apparently, all public officials- and government officials were corrupt. The man Gaius was part of the crew of the assassinated crew. Gauis, Tiberius and the conspirators against the Republic and against Ceasar.

Tiberius tried to fight economic inequality by creating agriculture reform- to lower food prices. Gauis created full level reforms for the entire republic. Gauis went through and deflected the Greek city of Massiel an old Greek colony in France. Some cities were granted Italian citizenship. The Senate tried to end the rebellion against the Roman Republic.

The Ancient Roman Republic fell to the Wannabe Dictators- who became dictators- because of rising inequality and corruption within the Roman Republic. The main ones were Sully, Julius Ceasar and Augustus Ceasar. They were rivals- who were originally allies but became they became friskier over time. The Ancient Romans fell from a Republic- into an Empire.
