Ancient Greece Part Four - Greek

I decided to read, learn and write about Ancient Greece because its a very interesting period where the foundation of Democracy, Colonialism and the Mythical Odyssey. Ancient Greece is a very interesting place where writing was developed, temple’s philosophy and advanced government. The Ancient Greeks were on of the most and first advanced civilizations in ancient history and was one of the strongest ancient sea powers. Their religion impacted the world for the next 4.5 thousand years and even influenced Christianity.

Greek Religion is based on twelve gods, an Indo-European invasion and early Middle Eastern and prehistoric history/culture. Greek religion is depicted well in the Percy Jackson series and their demi-gods. They believed in a different origin story then Christian’s do. In Greek Mythology the world was created by titans and the Greek gods overthrew and imprisoned them in a mile deep pit.

Greek Religion was based on gods that were based on, and part of, parts of the real world. Greek Religion included the twelve Olympian Gods, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hermes, Athena, Dionysus, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Demeter and Hera. There were also minor gods, and half gods called demi-gods. Demi gods were dyslexic and born to a god parent that breed with a mortal human male or female. There were temples dedicated to these gods. The head god was Zeus the god of the sky, then Poseidon the god of the Ocean/water then Hades the god of the underworld. The Percy Jackson series is a rough outline of this Greek Religion. Ancient Greek Religion had a big transition in the 2nd millennium.

The territory of Greece was invaded fairly early on and their religion was incorporated with the invaders. In the early 2nd millennium, Indo-European invaders invaded Greece and replaced their religion with their own. The original religion had Earth gods, Goddesses and demons that they sacrificed humans and animals to. The Greeks believed that the gods came after the Earth and the stars were created, in genesis of the bible it says that god created the heavens in the earth so it’s the opposite. The Greeks believed that the creation of man was formed by the son of Zeus – Prometheus- the demigod- he fashioned humans from clay and water. Early Greek religion mentioned the gods as in human or subhuman. Greek religion had enemies and monsters.

Ancient Greece practices were based on monsters and Middle Eastern religious practices. There were cyclops and titans in Greek Mythology that were the enemies of the humans and gods. In their world the titans came before the gods then the gods overthrew the titans. Some of the Greek traditions go back to prehistoric mating rites. The Goddess Aphrodite’s history comes from a Middle Eastern religious practice of all girls and prostituting themselves once with a stranger. This was to honor the god named Mylitta.

Greek Religion is different than Christian religion and it takes its roots from some middle eastern practices and prehistoric history. Greek Religion had very different views on the creation of the world and man than Christian religion. Some of this included the creation of the world and man. Middle Eastern practices have pretty good things and prehistoric history. Prehistoric history influenced the Greeks when they were invaded by Indo Europeans. Greek Religion has some legitimate merits today, but Christianity is solid right now. Greek Religion bases its multiple gods as master or ruler of one part of the Eart or one thing or a few things and they even mated with humans.
